Sandhill Cranes, field somewhere between McAllen and Houston

On our drive back from the Valley we encountered a flock of Sandhill Cranes in a field. They danced and frolicked, putting on quite a show. The sight of them reminded me of an Impressionist painting.

I literally could have stood watching them all day, but they drifted to the back of the field after letting out a couple loud rattling calls. Also observed this bird which appears to be a sparrow. Please comment if you know what species!
