Bald Eagle

Bald Eagle in Flight, Cullinan Park Conservancy, Sugar Land, Texas

After half a dozen visits to Cullinan Park the past month I FINALLY saw the Bald Eagle! This was my first time ever seeing one in the wild. It flew over the lake twice – during the first flyover I just watched, the second time I scored a couple clicks.

That pretty much made my entire morning – I have visited Cullinan Park half a dozen times or so in the past month hoping to catch a glimpse.

I also noticed nesting boxes set up for Wood Ducks – birders on Ebird have reported seeing them recently, though I didn’t see any. I did spend about ten minutes watching a Great Egret hunting in the wetlands – there is something about watching a lone Egret wading through still water that calms my soul.
