White Ibis, Brazos Bend State Park, Needville, Texas
During the winter when foliage lacks I focus my photography a little more on bird behavior – during the spring and fall I include context much more. Everything is blooming and green and takes on a magical quality this time of year. A few days ago I found myself zooming out rather than in for photos to include beautiful foliage and grass.
White Ibis are particularly striking during breeding season with their bright red bills and feet. If you start paying attention to birds feeding near lakes and bayous you will see them often, usually in groups, sometimes mixed with other wading birds. This one was solo and called out to me with the serene water and tall grass.
