Alligator mother and young, Brazos Bend State Park, Needville, Texas, Prairie Trail
This mama alligator was small, about six feet long, so this was likely her first brood. Literally a minute after locating the mother alligator and babies this one swam over and climbed onto the mother’s back. There were probably about ten or so in the brood.
This was on the Prairie Trail at Brazos Bend, the same spot I had located a gator nest a few months prior. The mother was particularly watchful and hissed at anyone who came too close (she wasn’t as laid back as the mother gator near 40 Acre Lake just after the Hoots Hollow Trail.) Totally a first time mom! 😉
