Roseate Spoonbill Family, Smith Oaks Rookery, High Island, Texas
Admittedly not the world’s best photograph in terms of quality – but in terms of content, this was my favorite moment from birding yesterday. Made a few rookie mistakes (did not bring a monopod or tripod) and need to learn how to maximize my camera when lighting is scarce. That is the challenge with wildlife photography – the moment the dad flew to the nest and the family began interacting it was dusk and the lighting became tricky. Feeling humbled but am fully confident that next time I visit Smith Oaks my shots will be much improved.
This is adorable!
