Common Paraque, Estero Llano Grande State Park, Weslaco, Texas

This bird was so difficult to spot that a group of fourteen birders, most highly experienced, missed it along the trail, despite spending nearly half an hour searching! On the way back a passing hiker pointed out this Common Paraque. We were very quiet so as not to disturb the bird (which was only about half a foot away from the edge of the trail.) The southern tip of Texas is the only part of North America where the Common Paraque can be seen.
